You can rent bicycles near Shuishe Pier for NT$150 to NT$300+. This dedicated path features wide over-water boardwalks. The terrain is level, making it easy for children to ride. You must dismount and push your bikes at the Shuishe Dam wooden section for safety.

How do families get around the lake?

Passenger ferries run a counter-clockwise loop between three main piers.

A 1-day pass costs around NT$300 and allows unlimited rides. The boats travel between Shuishe, Xuanguang Temple, and Ita Thao. Rides take 15 to 20 minutes between piers. This limits walking for tired children.

What should families pack for a day trip?

Bring sun protection, insect repellent, and motion sickness medication.

The lake sits at an elevation of 748 meters (2,454 feet). Mornings and evenings feel cool, so pack a light jacket. Bring an umbrella for rain, especially from May to September. Motion sickness medication helps on winding bus roads and boats.
